More craziness at the Microsoft Store

I wanted to switch my Xbox One preorder of WatchDogs game to PC. Of course, you still cant make any changes to your orders without calling them up on the phone and talking to a real person. This guy that answers the phone, he first suggests that i keep the game and get a simulator for my PC. Um what!? Than he tries to transfer me to the Xbox team…so they can get my Xbox One downloadable version ordered. Finally i get it across to him that i don’t want the Xbox version. But than he cant even find the game on their store and asks me to find it for him.

Its all taken care of, just like my previous post about calling Microsoft. But when are they going to let us make changes to our orders? If you have the same prices and same shipping times as other major stores, why should i purchase from you guys if its going to be such a hassle to make changes?

out.

Xbox One Audio

On my Xbox 360 I use a nice set of over ear gaming headphones. They can connect via 2.5 headphone jack and RCA Left and Right straight out of the Xbox. With Xbox One you can useĀ  HDMI and/or Toslink spdif digital. Now, BF4 is not very conducive to a sleeping toddler FYI, so I had to turn my volume way down or off. Neither of which is good for hearing gunfire or a tank about to run you over.

I found a nice solution on newegg. Its a $15 digital to RCA adapter. Very small, quiet, and uses hardly any power. One issue is that you do not have any control over volume with this setup. In my case the headphones have a volume control, but as far as just getting the sound to RCA it works great.

Now Microsoft just needs to get the third party audio working so I can use my headphones mic.

My xbox showed up around lunch time Friday. Of course my internet was out from a storm the night before so all I could do was set it up at my desk and wait…….

Eventually got the day one 500 meg patch installed. Took a lot longer than it should have on my internet. Was the same for my friend a couple hours away. Imagine the servers were getting hammered. My xbox worked fine, no issues like others have reported, but I was a little scared when I opened it and noticed the lack of packaging. Amazon did not use any padding at all on 4 sides of the box and as you can see the 2 sides they did use it on were almost completely deflated. But as I said, it works great.

I will have more info/videos up soon, but for now here is some open box pics and a quick clip from BF4 that the system automatically recorded for me. I took it into upload studio, added an effect, uploaded to my skydrive and manually took it to youtube. In the future you will beable to go straight to youtube from your box.

**Just a little fyi about the videos you see online including this one. Streaming videos do not and cannot do the new systems justice. If you don’t have a new system or have not seen one in person, you do not know what they look like. 60 fps is insane. I have compared twitch streams and youtube and they are nothing like the real thing.

19th century Microsoft

Ok, so i am a big Xbox fanboy, but sometimes the company irritates me.

Issue 1) Why does Microsoft’s own game store not give you the same options as Amazon and Gamestop? In my case why do you not get into the Destiny Beta when buying from them but you do from the other major stores? (Gamestop almost immediately replied on twitter with a link to the gamestop sale that does include it lol)

Issue 2) Why is it so dang hard to contact the store about issues? No scratch that, WHY do i have to contact them at all? Unlike EVERYONE ELSE on the internet, you not only cannot edit your orders via a webpage, they don’t even give you a way to talk to someone on the website or give you an email address. You have to call them on the phone. Phone trees and on hold yay! Person who wont stop trying to read you a commercial before you hang up at the end even when you say “no thanks” yay! (Now they did have a nice call back feature and i did get my problem fixed within moments after talking to someone. But still…phone calls..seriously?!)

Issue 3) I turned to twitter to ask them about this and it seems they are more interested in how they look than answering questions that could effect sales. It took way too many tweets to finally get out of them that they are not participating in the beta.

I had really been looking forward to having all my games sales attached to my Live xbox account. Oh well, amazon prime you win again.

Still looking forward to the ONE though. The 22nd cant come soon enough
